It takes powerful and high-quality equipment, along with multiple screens, to analyze how electricity prices are developing. Therefore, Thomas Tynor, the IT manager at Yggdrasil, set out to find a leasing company that could meet the exact needs of the energy company.
“We use a lot of screens in our work, and the computers that need to handle that require special equipment, and they must have high resolution. So, we needed some expensive IT equipment. Additionally, we are continuously hiring new employees, and this model makes it easy because we simply order a complete package whenever we get a new colleague,” explains Thomas Tynor.
Instead of spending between 200,000 and 300,000 kroner on new, powerful computers, Yggdrasil chose a more transparent solution.
“We decided to lease because we thought it would give us the flexibility of not tying up our capital too tightly, and we could get out of it if it turned out not to be the right solution for us. Flexibility is definitely a key reason for us to lease the company’s equipment,” says Thomas Tynor.
“The fact that you can exchange equipment before the agreement expires and purchase the equipment at its market value at that time gives us extra flexibility. The interest rate on top of that is very, very low compared to the amount of flexibility it gives the business,” he believes.
